By the first month of 2019, Japan’s SBI Holdings Inc. will broaden its investment in the blockchain solutions startup; and the launch of the Corda Settler
SBI will bolster its extant investment in R3 through a joint venture, the Japanese publication Nihon Keizai Shimbun reports. The venture will embark on proliferating R3’s Corda within Japan and the rest of Asia.
The Strategic Business Innovator Group or SBI has an existing investment in R3. It participated in the second tranche of R3’s funding round two years ago and is currently a principal shareholder at the company.

The blockchain tech company launched the Corda Settler two days ago, 5 December. It is an open-sourced CorDapp, made for facilitating intercontinental payments made on the platform’s blockchain. With the Settler, payment transactions done on Corda can be performed and settled using traditional and blockchain-based payment systems. Payments made through the app will be in Ripple’s XRP, a move suggested by SBI.
Ripple has a partnership with the Japanese firm: SBI Ripple Asia.
