Corda Proof-of-Concept Consensus for SWIFT

SWIFT enlists the R3 built blockchain platform, Corda, for a PoC (proof-of-concept) GPI Link test run.

Link is a portal to connect e-commerce and trading rostrums with the SWIFT GPI. This portal supports APIs, SWIFT, and ISO standards. It capacitates round-the-clock monitoring, payment flow control, and movement of goods by trading platforms. It serves to channel members of the GPI to different trade platforms and facilitate payments, payer authentication, credit approval, and tracking.

Fiat will be used on the PoC settlement system and the GPI based ‘off-ledger’ payment settlement is enabled. This initial phase of the PoC will occur on Corda. Companies meshed with R3’s Corda will have the capacity to authorize payments from their own banks through GPI Link. GPI payments will be accomplished by banks, and upon completion, credit notifications will be relayed back to trade platforms by GPI Link.

In the beginning, PoC will support Corda, but in the future, it will stretch to cover other DLT, non-DLT, and e-commerce systems.

A prototype of SWIFT’s PoC will be presented in London’s Sibos on September 2019.

Banking Institutions from Across the World Adopting Corda

Japan’s SBI Holdings teams up with the blockchain startup to promote Corda in Asian markets. German, French, and Dutch banks are using R3’s Corda for their Euro Debt Solution. In France, there are 26 companies and five banks which completed a KYC trial through Corda.

Crypto Adoption: Royal Bank of Canada Might Soon Launch A Crypto Trading Platform

Canada’s largest bank, The Royal Bank of Canada having over $965 billion in total assets could soon launch a crypto trading platform. Will RBC Soon offer Crypto Accounts? As per reports, by leading media, The Logic, RBC has applied for four patents in Canada and the US – a hint enough to decude that the bank might integrate cryptos into its operations. When questioned RBC spokesperson Jean Francois Thibault told  The Logic that similar to other organizations, patent applications, and concepts are protected and declined to comment on the platform launch. “To individual users, managing cryptographic keys and transacting with different cryptographic assets can be a challenge. In some situations, cryptographic asset transactions may take time to be confirmed, and/or may not be compatible or supported by merchant systems or point-of-sale devices,” reads the patent. The report further mentions that the bank could offer its customers cryptocurrency accounts. As a matter of fact, RBC has published a minimum of 27-blockchain-related patents in the past three years. These include credit scores, vehicle records, digital rewards and loan offerings. Rising Crypto & Blockchain Adoption in Canada A study by Bank of Canada in early October revealed that 5% of Canadians own bitcoin. Furthermore, the nation has been well-positioned in attracting mining businesses due to its colder climate and low energy costs. Not only is the national interest in cryptocurrencies rising, a survey by Deloitte in 2018 revealed that fifty-one percent of Canadian companies were investing in blockchain. Yesterday, Canada launched its second stablecoin, CUSD. Interestingly, the stablecoin is backed by the US Dollar and not the Canadian Dollar. CUSD similar to its forerunner CADT, (backed by the Canadian Dollar) has been developed by Blockchain Venture Captial Inc., a Canadian blockchain-based company. Ripple (XRP) Price Remains At Risk Of More Losses

Ripple price is trading in a bearish zone below the $0.2840 resistance against the US dollar. The price is struggling to hold the key support area near the $0.2700 level. Yesterday’s major bearish trend line is active with resistance near $0.2800 on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair (data source from Kraken). Ethereum is trading above $180 range support and bitcoin is down more than 3.5%. Ripple price is facing an uphill task against the US Dollar and bitcoin. XRP price is likely to continue lower as long as it is trading below $0.2820 and $0.2840. Ripple Price Analysis In the past few hours, there was an increase in selling on ripple below the $0.2840 resistance area against the US Dollar. XRP/USD mostly followed a bearish path below $0.2800 and the 100 hourly simple moving average. Moreover, the price moved below the last low and traded to a new weekly low near $0.2682. At the moment, the price is correcting higher above $0.2720. Moreover, there was a break above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $0.2852 high to $0.2682 low. However, there are many resistances for ripple on the upside near the $0.2765 and $0.2780 levels. Besides, the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $0.2852 high to $0.2682 low is near the $0.2765 level. More importantly, yesterday’s major bearish trend line is active with resistance near $0.2800 on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair. The 100 hourly SMA is also positioned near the trend line and $0.2800 to act as a barrier for the bulls. Therefore, a clear break above the trend line, $0.2800, and the 100 hourly SMA could start a decent increase. The next key resistance is near the $0.2840 level, above which there are chances of more upsides towards the $0.3000 resistance area. On the downside, an initial support is near the $0.2700 level. If there is another bearish break below the $0.2700 support, the price could even decline below the $0.2682 low. The next key supports on the downside are near the $0.2650 and $0.2640 levels. Ripple Price Looking at the chart, ripple price is clearly trading in a bearish zone below the $0.2800 and $0.2840 resistance levels. A convincing close above $0.2840 is needed for the price to move into a bullish zone. If not, there is a risk of more losses below $0.2700. Technical Indicators Hourly MACD – The MACD for XRP/USD is about to move into the bearish zone. Hourly RSI (Relative Strength Index) – The RSI for XRP/USD is currently declining and is below the 50 level. Major Support Levels – $0.2700, $0.2680 and $0.2650. Major Resistance Levels – $0.2765, $0.2800 and $0.2840.
