Beginning Monday this week, businesses in US Ohio can pay taxes using BTC; the payment option will eventually include individual taxpayers
Companies and businesses within the state of Ohio can register through OhioCrypto.com. The initiative was led by Josh Mandel, State Treasurer of Ohio, as he revealed he envisions BTC to be a legal mode of currency. The cryptocurrency as a form of tax payment was devised without the need for legislative or gubernatorial approval.
BitPay will process the tax payments.
Mandel’s tenure as Ohio Treasurer will end in January. But he is positive that the state’s crypto-initiative will persist.
